Everything under **Tools → Pagespeed Insights → Settings**. Changes are saved with the **Save settings** bar at the bottom of the screen. Settings cannot be changed while a scan is running.

## Google PageSpeed API

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| API key | Your Google API key. A new key has to pass **Check key** before you can save. See [Get a Google API key](https://plugstack.dev/docs/google-pagespeed-insights/google-api-key/). |
| Report type | *Desktop*, *Mobile* or *Both*. Both runs two checks per page, so it takes twice as long and uses twice as many requests. |
| Report language | The language of the audit titles and descriptions from Google. Recheck your pages after changing it. |
| Page screenshots | Keeps the screenshot and loading filmstrip of each page. Uses about 50 to 150 KB per report. Turn it off on very large sites. |

## What to check

Choose which parts of your site are scanned: Pages, Posts, Category archives, Custom URLs, and any public custom post types. The number next to each shows how many URLs it adds.

**Warning**Every page takes Google 10 to 20 seconds. A post type with thousands of entries, like forum replies or product variations, makes scans very long. Only include what you actually want to track.

## Schedule

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Recheck on a schedule | Scans the site automatically. New pages and posts are found on each run. |
| Report expiration | How old a report has to be before it is checked again: 1 day, 7 days, 15 days or 30 days. With the schedule on, this is also how often it runs. |

Pages with a fresh report are skipped during a normal scan. To check everything again right away, tick **Recheck all** in the header before you click Start scan.

## Advanced

The defaults work on most sites. Only change these if your scans stop before they finish.

| Setting | Use it when |
| --- | --- |
| Maximum execution time | Scans stop halfway and the plugin says the last scan did not finish. Raise it if your host allows longer requests. |
| Maximum script run time | Your host kills long requests no matter what. The scan then restarts itself after this time. Start low, around 30 seconds, and raise it step by step. |
| Delay between pages | Your server struggles while it is being tested. A short pause between pages helps. |
| Progress updates | How often the progress bar refreshes. Use *Slow* or *Off* on busy servers. |
| Log API errors | Keeps the errors Google returns for 7 days, so you can see them under **View logs**. |

## Delete data

**Delete reports** removes all reports and score history but keeps your custom URLs and snapshots. **Delete everything** also removes custom URLs, ignored URLs, snapshots and logs. Your settings and API key are always kept. Both ask before they delete anything, and neither can be undone.
