Converted images need extra disk space next to your originals. With both formats on, plan for about half the size of your current uploads folder. Pixavif warns you before a bulk run would fill the disk.
Make room
- Turn off one format under Settings → Formats. AVIF alone covers almost all visitors and needs the least space.
- Choose Smaller files under Settings → Quality.
- Exclude folders you do not show on the site, such as old imports or backups inside uploads.
- Delete old backups and logs that your hosting account keeps in your web space.
- Ask your host for more storage.
WarningWhen the disk is completely full, WordPress itself can fail to save uploads and settings. Free up space first, then convert.
